1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how GoDoCity LLC ("GoDoCity," "GoDoDaytona," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with GoDoDaytona.com, our email newsletter, social media channels, contests and sweepstakes, and all related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the Service and are incorporated herein by reference.

For California residents, additional rights are described in Section 10 (California Rights โ€” CCPA/CPRA).

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

We collect information you voluntarily provide when interacting with the Service:

  • Newsletter subscription: email address; optionally, first name and zip code
  • Contact and advertiser inquiry forms: name, email address, business name, phone number, and the content of your message
  • Contest and sweepstakes entries: name, email address, mailing address, and any entry-specific information required by the contest rules
  • Community submissions: tips, letters to the editor, event listings, photographs, press releases, and any other content you choose to submit โ€” including any personal information contained in that content

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and browsing activity:

  • IP address and approximate geolocation (typically city and state level)
  • Browser type, version, and language settings
  • Operating system and device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • Pages visited, links clicked, scroll depth, and time spent on page
  • Referring URL (the page or platform you came from before visiting our Service)
  • UTM parameters and campaign tracking codes in URLs

This information is collected through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies as described in Section 5.

Information from Third Parties

We may receive information about you from the following third-party sources:

  • Social media platforms when you interact with our social media accounts, share our content, or connect with us through a social platform
  • Advertising and analytics partners who provide aggregated and anonymized data for advertising performance measurement โ€” this does not include your name or email address
  • Contest co-sponsors who may share information you provided during a jointly administered contest or sweepstakes for purposes of prize fulfillment

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Deliver our newsletter and editorial content to subscribers
  • Respond to inquiries, advertiser requests, and community submissions
  • Improve the Service through analytics, user research, and testing
  • Administer contests, sweepstakes, and community programs
  • Send transactional emails related to your specific requests or account activity
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and technical issues
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of advertising (aggregated; never sold)

Where required by applicable law, our legal bases for processing personal data include: performance of a contract (e.g., delivering newsletter content you subscribed to); legitimate interests (e.g., improving the Service, preventing fraud and abuse, operating our business); consent (where explicitly obtained from you, such as for certain cookies or communications); and legal compliance (processing required by applicable law).

4. How We Share Information

Service Providers

We share data with third-party vendors who act as data processors on our behalf. These include email delivery and newsletter platforms (such as Mailchimp or similar services), web hosting and content delivery network (CDN) providers, web analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), contest and sweepstakes administration platforms, and payment processors for advertising sales. All such vendors process your data solely under our instructions, pursuant to written data processing agreements, and are prohibited from using your personal data for their own independent purposes.

Advertising

We work with third-party advertising networks and analytics providers who may collect information through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies placed on our pages. This data is used to measure advertising performance and may be used by these networks to serve interest-based or targeted advertising on other platforms. Please see Section 5 (Cookies, Pixels & Tracking) for more information and opt-out options.

We do not share your name, email address, or other directly identifying personal information with advertisers.

Legal & Safety Disclosures

We may disclose your information to law enforcement, government authorities, or other third parties when: (a) required by applicable law, regulation, subpoena, or court order; (b) we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of GoDoCity LLC, our users, or the general public; or (c) we are investigating suspected fraud, violations of our Terms of Service, or other unlawful activity.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or substantially all of GoDoCity LLC's assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice to you โ€” by updating this Privacy Policy and, where practicable, by emailing newsletter subscribers โ€” before any such transfer occurs, and we will describe the options available to you at that time.

Aggregated and De-Identified Data

We may share aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information โ€” such as "approximately 35% of our readers are between the ages of 25 and 44" โ€” with partners, advertisers, and the public. Such information cannot reasonably be used to identify you individually and is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

5. Cookies, Pixels & Tracking

What We Use

We and our third-party partners use cookies, web beacons, pixels, local storage objects, and similar tracking technologies (collectively, "Tracking Technologies") to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, and to deliver and measure advertising.

Types of Tracking Technologies

  • Session Cookies: Temporary cookies stored in your browser's memory that expire automatically when you close your browser session. Used to maintain session state and enable core Service functionality during your visit.
  • Persistent Cookies: Cookies stored on your device for a defined period of time, even after you close your browser. Used to remember your preferences and recognize you as a returning visitor.
  • Web Beacons / Pixels: Small transparent image files (1x1 pixels) or short snippets of code embedded in web pages and emails. When loaded, they send a signal to a server confirming that a page has been viewed or an email has been opened. Used to measure content and email engagement.
  • Third-Party Pixels: Code placed on our pages by third-party platforms to enable advertising measurement, remarketing, and analytics functionality (described in detail below).

Specific Technologies We Use

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Service, including which pages are visited, session duration, traffic sources, and user demographics (aggregated). Google Analytics sets cookies to collect this behavioral data, which is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States and other countries. We have enabled IP anonymization to truncate IP addresses before storage. You may opt out of Google Analytics data collection by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google Tag Manager

We use Google Tag Manager ("GTM") to deploy and manage analytics tags, tracking scripts, and other code snippets on the Service without requiring direct code changes. GTM itself does not collect personal data, but it may load other tracking scripts as described in this Section.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel) to measure the effectiveness of advertising we run on Facebook and Instagram, and to enable remarketing to users who have previously visited the Service. When you visit certain pages of our Service, the Meta Pixel transmits certain behavioral data to Meta Platforms, Inc. You may opt out of interest-based advertising through Facebook's ad settings or through the opt-out tools listed below.

Email Tracking Pixels

Our newsletter emails contain a single transparent pixel image that confirms when an email has been opened and whether embedded links have been clicked. This data is used solely to measure newsletter engagement and improve content quality. To prevent email open tracking, you may disable automatic image loading in your email client settings.

Newsletter Service Provider Tracking

Our email delivery platform sets cookies on our website and tracks user engagement with our newsletter (including opens, clicks, and unsubscribes) in accordance with its own privacy policy and data processing agreement with GoDoCity LLC.

Cookie Controls

You have several options for controlling tracking technologies:

  • Browser settings: Most modern web browsers allow you to block, delete, or be notified about cookies through your browser's privacy or security settings. Please consult your browser's help documentation for instructions.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics across all websites.
  • Industry opt-out tools: Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies via the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out tool or the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out tool.
  • Cookie consent: Where required by applicable law (such as for users in the EU/UK), we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies.

Please note that blocking or deleting certain cookies may affect the functionality of some features of the Service. Opting out of interest-based advertising does not mean you will see fewer ads โ€” only that ads may be less relevant to your interests.

6. Email Communications

Newsletter subscribers receive regular emails containing local news, events, dining guides, business spotlights, community announcements, and advertising. You may unsubscribe from newsletter emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email, or by emailing us at hello@gododaytona.com with "unsubscribe" in the subject line. We process unsubscribe requests within ten (10) business days.

Transactional emails โ€” including contest entry confirmations, inquiry responses, and account-related notices โ€” are sent as needed in connection with your specific requests and are not subject to marketing unsubscribe requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with our legal obligations. Our general retention practices are as follows:

  • Newsletter subscribers: Email address and subscription data are retained while your subscription is active. After you unsubscribe, your email address is retained in a suppression list to prevent inadvertent re-enrollment.
  • Contact form submissions: Retained for up to twenty-four (24) months from the date of submission.
  • Contest entry data: Retained for the duration required to administer the contest, fulfill legal and prize obligations, and satisfy any applicable statutory record-keeping requirements, then deleted or anonymized.
  • Analytics data: Retained in accordance with Google Analytics default retention settings (26 months by default, which we may adjust based on our needs and applicable law).
  • Security and access logs: Retained for up to twelve (12) months.

We may retain certain information for longer periods where required by law, to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

8. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and the Service
  • Access controls limiting who within our organization can access personal data, based on need
  • Vendor agreements requiring service providers to maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures
  • Regular review of our data collection, storage, and processing practices

No method of electronic transmission or data storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided personal information to us through the Service, please contact us immediately at hello@gododaytona.com and we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records.

For users in the European Union or United Kingdom, the minimum age for consent to data processing is 16 years (or such lower age as may be permitted under the laws of the user's Member State or country), except where verifiable parental consent has been obtained in accordance with applicable law.

10. California Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), as amended and expanded by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (CPRA), grants you specific rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and how to exercise them.

Right to Delete

You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions. Right to Correct

You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you, taking into account the nature of the information and our purposes for processing it.

Right to Opt Out of Sale / Sharing

We do not collect or use sensitive personal information (as defined by the CPRA, such as Social Security numbers, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, health data, or biometric data) beyond what is strictly necessary to provide the Service to you.

Right to Non-Discrimination

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you different prices, provide a different level of service quality, or suggest that you will receive different treatment for exercising your rights.

We continually monitor applicable state privacy legislation and update this Policy as new laws take effect.

15. Do Not Track

Some web browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites indicating that you prefer not to be tracked across websites. Currently, there is no established industry standard, regulatory requirement, or consistent technical specification for how websites should respond to DNT signals.

At this time, we do not alter our data collection or processing practices in response to browser DNT signals. However, the opt-out mechanisms described in Section 5 (Cookies, Pixels & Tracking) are available to you regardless of your DNT setting, and provide meaningful controls over tracking technologies on our Service.

By using the Service from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

For EU and UK residents: We do not currently offer services specifically directed at the European Union or United Kingdom market, and we do not rely on EU/UK-specific data transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision) as a basis for transferring your data. If you are located in the EU or UK and use our Service, please note that the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR may apply to our processing of your personal data.
